Magical Wedding – much richness ahead

What truly magical wedding on the last day of summer this year. Sarah & Tyryn had become boyfriend & girlfriend on 28th Feb 2015, three years later on 28th Feb 2018 they became        bride & groom.

This is a wedding that was pulled together in less than a month, lacked nothing and was done on a pretty tight budget. They chose a place that was very special to them on the banks of the Waikato river. They checked in with the Council and booked the Landing & BBQ area for their special day. Fairy lights decorated the frame of the BBQ area (a generator enabled the power). We dressed a small table to use for signing the paperwork. Battery operated tee lights were placed on the Council picnic tables. The wedding began around 7pm, just as daylight was beginning to close. As the evening continued the sparkle from the lights grew making for a wonderful evening. About thirty close friends and family gathered, each contributing to the shared picnic/BBQ.

Sarah chose a gorgeous gown and Tyryn was fully decked out in a suit. They chose not to have attendants but Grandad walked Sarah down the isle. Freshly picked flowers from the garden made a gorgeous bouquet for the bride as well as a buttonhole for the groom. The two Mum’s were their witnesses and delighted children got the front row picnic mat so they could see and hear all that went on.

I had known Sarah’s family for many years. This connection made it extra special to be asked to officiate. Then, when the guests began to arrive, I discovered a connection to Tyryn’s family also. I love every wedding, such a special time to be involved with people as they take the step into marriage, but with these personal connections for myself, it really makes my heart leap. Such a treat.

The ceremony itself had all the elements required to make these two legally wed, plus a few personalised touches to make it unique to them. These two have been my youngest couple yet and at just 17 & 18 I suspect they will hold that record for quite sometime. Having met with them and heard something of their story, I am confident they are making this life choice with their eyes wide open. It will not be all sunshine and roses but, together and with the support of friends and family, they are now on a journey of promise, learning, commitment. A commitment that with every year completed can become stronger & safer. Yes, they are young but that can be their strength.

Going through life committed to someone who is equally committed to you is such a blessing. There will be times it will be hard going but these two will have so many ‘firsts’ together and lots of ‘only you’ in the equation – this is very special. A relationship that is long has a richness to it that only time can bring. These two are setting themselves up for a ‘wealth of relationship’.

Marriage should strengthen not only the bond between the two but also to our family and friends. It is so often the support and encouragement of others than’enables’ us as we journey. The road will have potholes, some step hills, amazing views when the top is reached, some trips alone, some just for two and many with passengers galore. We are all part of supporting others in relationship and it is important that we build up those we love and care for and give support and encouragement to those we know. Travel well, one and all.
