What a wonderful month November turned out to be.
First off, I had a weeks notice of the wedding on 11th November. Originally hoping to have a personal friend as their celebrant, paperwork did not happen in time so I was asked to ‘fill the gap’. At this stage of the game, the ceremony was pretty much ready to go. A few minor alterations to ensure the couple were legally wed at the end of the day and we were all set to go. Wendy & Jeff had hired my very own Church for their ceremony (that was how we had met). It was also neat to see this wedding being pulled together with a huge effort of friends and family. Pretty much everything was provided by someone and every detail was covered. It was fantastic and costs were kept right down. For me, it was not just a treat to get to know them both just a little bit, but I had the joy performing their special ceremony at ‘my place’.
My 2nd wedding we had been working towards for almost a year. The surprise element here was that the mother of the groom is one of my very best friends. Daniel had asked that I did not ‘let on’ the role I would play so, my husband & I, as far as all were concerned, were just two of the guests. What a delight to have known Daniel since he was about 9yrs old and now to have been instrumental in getting him and Melissa married and uniting their little family. This wedding was kept small and intimate with less than 20 special friends and family present and the reception in a function room of a local resturant. Just beautiful and a wonderful day.
Both these weddings had really special elements including significant symbols of faith, love and committment. Both marriages acknowledging not just the legal binding made but that they were also bound together in the sight of God.
I hold marriage as a very special and important union between two people. Although those I marry may not have the same beliefs I do, below is a prayer that holds true (and I pray) for all my couples.
